WAUKESHA, WI (WSAU) — An Antigo man already serving a life sentence for killing his mother could still receive an additional sentence for exposing his genitals to a child and child neglect.
Derek Goplin was in a Waukesha County courtroom on Thursday for what was scheduled as a plea and sentencing hearing. But court records indicate that the 40-year-old’s defense team would like more time to review previous court transcripts.
Judge Michael Boren then rescheduled the plea and sentencing hearing for November 6th. Though the case may result in dismissal.

Shortly after he was found guilty of homicide it was revealed that he was facing additional charges for exposing his genitals for a child and child neglect. Those charges were filed shortly after he was arrested for homicide but immediately sealed. Judge Boren said that was to prevent them from showing up in a court records search so the details wouldn’t taint the potential jury pool in Langlade County.
If the case is dismissed Goplin will be able to appear via videoconferencing. If not, he will be summoned to court in person.
