(Reuters) -The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday named oncology expert Richard Pazdur as the nation’s top drug regulator.
Pazdur would now lead the agency’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, which regulates over-the-counter medicines and most prescription drugs. He replaces George Tidmarsh.
Last week, Tidmarsh resigned from the role amid serious concerns about his personal conduct, a Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson told Reuters.
The Washington Post first reported on the appointment.
