GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – ESPN is reporting that the Packers have agreed to a contact extension for coach Matt LaFleur.
The upcoming 2026 season would have been the final year of LaFleur’s contract. The Packers did not want to start the season with a “lame duck” coach.
Sources say the agreement is a five year extension. The financial terms have not been confirmed.
There had been questions about LaFleur’s future in Green Bay after the Packers blew an 18-point lead, losing to the Bears in the first round of the playoffs. The team ended the season on a five game losing streak while suffering some key injuries down the stretch.
In his 7 years coaching the Packers, LeFleur has a 76-40-1 record. His playoff record is 3-6, and the team hasn’t gotten past the first round in the last two seasons.
Sources also say the Packers will soon announce new deals for general manager Brian Gutekunst and vice president Russ Ball.
