Georgia Ring
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids woman accused of her 8th OWI will represent herself at trial.
Georgia Ring appeared in a Marathon County courtroom on Wednesday, telling the judge she would like to proceed Pro Se, meaning she will move forward without an attorney. She then waived her right to a preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
The 61-year-old is accused of driving drunk on Interstate 39 near Locker Road in January. Officers initially pulled her over for speeding, but immediately noticed signs of impairment.
She failed a field sobriety test and was jailed on a probation violation and 8th OWI. Her previous convictions date back to at least 2009, according to court records.
She faces up to 12.5 years in prison and $50,000 in fines if found guilty. Further court action is scheduled for March 5th.
