WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Tony Evers attended the Wausau Area Virtual Education (WAVE) Quilt Club’s Veterans Day Quilt of Valor Presentation. The event involved handing homemade quilts to the veterans working with the school district. Evers expressed his gratitude to the veterans,
“Wisconsin is home to approximately 300,000 veterans, and each of them sacrificed the comfort and safety of home to fend our great state and nation. They are our friends, our neighbors, and in this case three people who work for the school district. ”
He tells us that this event brings the whole community together and it’s really special to see that.
“It’s a tough time for veterans, and many of them struggle. I just think it’s important for us to continue to recognize that there are veterans out there that struggle with mental issues and you have to make sure that they have the resources they need in order to thrive in the state.”
