Without the results of the Dexa I could see why so many people would give up on a health plan because of slow results if you’re relying only on a scale to rate progress. The Dexa measures changes in body fat, overall and then it breaks it down by trunk, arms, and legs. It also measures lean mass so and visceral fat (the fat around your organs). When I look at each of these I can see improvement in all areas, but when I look at the scale and only see that I’ve lost 2 pounds it doesn’t seem like I’ve made a lot of progress. I can see in the Dexa scan results that the 2 pound weight loss consists of a loss of visceral fat, a loss of 4 pounds of fat and a 2 pound increase of lean muscle.
