Matthew Corp
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of his 5th drunk driving offense after an altercation with a family in a residential neighborhood earlier this year has pleaded guilty to an amended charge for a 4th OWI.
Court records show Matthew Corp entered the plea on Monday. He had been facing a felony count for a 5th or 6th offense OWI, but instead pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. In exchange for the plea, a count of second-degree recklessly endangering safety was dismissed but read into the record.
The 61-year-old will avoid prison time if he completes three years of probation. Terms include seven months in the Marathon County Jail and a full no-contact order against a victim, identified by their initials. He must also complete all treatment and counseling ordered by his agent and maintain absolute sobriety from alcohol.
His driver’s license has also been revoked for 36 months.

Corp had been facing up to 20 years in prison on the original charges, which stemmed from an altercation in May. Witnesses said Corp nearly struck a child as he was driving on a residential street, then threatened to shoot a group of people when they confronted him about his behavior. He fled the scene before police arrived.
When officers caught up to him, he blew a .20 on a breath test, nearly ten times his legal limit of .02. Court records show his prior OWI convictions date back to 1995.
