WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Call it beginner’s luck for Wausau’s newest grocery store.
Hy-Vee sold a winning Megabucks ticket on Wednesday worth $7.1 million, the game’s fourth-largest jackpot since 2017.
“We are brand new to the community,” said Store Director Jake Dryer. “It’s really exciting to sell a big winner on our third day open as Hy-Vee.”
The store, previously known as Crossroads County Market, will receive a $100,000 bounty for selling the ticket.
Megabucks is a Wisconsin-only lottery game. Players select six numbers, one through 49, with drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 PM. Players receive two sets of numbers for $1 and can choose their own numbers or have the computer pick each set for them.
Wednesday’s numbers were 1, 12, 19, 29, 30, and 45.
The winner has 180 days to claim their prize. Lottery officials stress that the winner should immediately sign the back of their ticket before contacting the lottery headquarters in Maidson for further instructions.
