MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Lincoln County-administered snowmobile trails in Zones 1, 2, and 3 opened Friday, January 2nd at 5:00 pm.
Winter ATV trails will still be closed until Friday, January 12, 2026. Please remember that all trails are closed to winter ATV when the temperature is above 28 degrees.
In Marathon County, officials have now opened trails in Zone 5 with the following notes:
- Closure from Intersection 110 to 112
- Closure from Intersection 100 to Taylor County
- Closure from Intersection 103 to Taylor County
- Corridor Trail from Intersection 104 to 100 is open
- Trail A from Intersection 100 to Clark County is open
- Trail F from Intersection 101 to HWY 29 is open
- Abby Trail from Intersection 128 to Clark County is open.
The trails are in early-season condition and will have rough and icy patches. Riders will likely encounter debris, like branches or leaning trees from last week’s storm while cleanup continues. If a trail has a sign that says TRAIL CLOSED, please keep off and stay on the ones that have been clearly marked.
Local snowmobile clubs remind riders to stay off lakes and rivers unless a trail has been clearly marked by a club.
