MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A former Merrill Area Public School employee has been fined $500, along with fees and surcharges, after pleading no contest to misuse of school funds.
WAOW TV reports that Dale Bergman was serving as the district’s director of buildings and grounds when he was accused of using school funds to purchase a $1,500 air conditioner and other items for personal use at his home.
The 55-year-old resigned in February 2024 after the accusations came to light.
He entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and was ordered to pay the fine. Court records show he has already paid restitution to the district.
