WESTON, WI (WAOW-WSAU) A Weston man who’s already in federal custody on a firearms conviction now faces a new felony charge.
Court records show Shawn M. Hignite Sr., 51, is charged with the repeated sexual assault of the same child.
According to the documents, in October a DC Everest Middle School student reported to a school counselor that Hignite assaulted her over several years, starting when she was about 8-years-old.
According to the criminal complaint, the assaults stopped after Hignite’s arrest in a federal case in 2024. He was sentenced to three years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm tied to a crash in 2019 and domestic incident in 2024. Court records show, in December, he filed to appeal that conviction.
Hignite’s arrest warrant was issued January 5. No other future court dates are scheduled yet.
