GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are hosting their second projected 1st-round pick wide receiver for an official visit on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers are formally inviting former Ohio State star receiver Emeka Egbuka for a top 30 visit after he spent the weekend meeting with the Dallas Cowboys.
Egbuka, 22, was a five-star recruit and was named Second-Team All-Big Ten during his sophomore year in 2022 and was named Third-Team All-Big Ten in 2023. He continued to dominate opposing defenses in 2024, racking up 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Buckeyes. Egbuka also showed off his durability during Ohio State’s championship run, playing in all of the team’s 16 games with 15 starts.
Green Bay is in need of a star receiver for quarterback Jordan Love to target, as the Packers struggled to move the ball through the air during portions of the 2024 season, including during their playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The team is expecting wide receiver Christian Watson to miss most if not all of the 2025 season due to a knee injury, and Romeo Doubs struggled with concussions and off-field issues last season, which prevented him from taking a step forward as Love’s number-one receiver in 2024.
The Packers also hosted fellow projected first-round pick Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden last week for an official visit, and GM Brian Gutekunst was the only NFL executive to attend Arizona wide receiver Tetoria McMillian’s private workout in March, so the odds that Green Bay selects their first receiver in the first round since 2002 appear to be reaching an all-time high.
