MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks will be without star point guard Damian Lillard for the foreseeable future, as the team confirmed on Monday that he suffered a season-ending injury during Sunday night’s playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, an MRI confirmed that Lillard suffered a torn left Achilles tendon after he landed awkwardly on his left leg while attempting to make a pass to an open teammate during the second quarter of Sunday’s Game 4 loss. This is Lillard’s second straight season with an Achilles-related injury after he suffered a strained Achilles last season before the team’s playoff series against the Pacers.
Lillard could miss up to a year due to the injury, which could indicate that he has played his final game as a Buck because his contract expires after the 2027 season. He’s set to earn more than $63 million during the 2026/2027 season.
Lillard, 34, just returned from a blood clot in his right leg that caused him to miss the first game of this playoff series against the Pacers as well as the last 14 games of the regular season.
In the two games he played in this series, Lillard shot just 24 percent (6 of 25) from the field and averaged 10.5 points. Going into Tuesday’s scheduled Game 5, the Bucks are behind 3-1 in the series.
