WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Wausau Fire Department was battling an apartment fire on the city’s west side Tuesday night.
The apartment building, located at 1025 S 3rd Ave, had heavy smoke rising from the roof around 8:30pm.
Traffic on S 3rd Ave was blocked off heading south from Rosecrans Street to Thomas Street.
An official with the Wausau Fire Department said they believed the fire started in the basement of the building. They could not say if the building was a total loss. There was also no word on any injuries. It’s unclear how many people had to be relocated.
Crews from Wausau FD were assisted by the SAFER Fire District.
