TOWN OF OMA, WI (WSAU-WXPR) — One person has died in a northwoods snowmobile crash.
WXPR Radio in Rhinelander reports that officials were called to a portion of Iron County Trail 17 near Finn Point Road at about 8:15 PM Monday. They found the rider unconscious, and life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
The rider, who was not identified, died at the scene. Investigators believe they failed to negotiate a curve in the trail and hit a tree.
Responding officers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. No further information has been released.
