WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A third person has now been formally charged with mistreatment of animals, in an investigation linked to two different local animal businesses.
Heather Zynda, 50, was arrested on December 12 but formally charged January 30 with two felony counts of mistreatment of animals causing death and five counts of party to a crime of intentionally mistreating animals, according to WAOW TV.
She owns Crossroads K-9 in Kronenwetter. Her partner, Sean Dumais, is facing similar charges after multiple animals were found dead at Central Wisconsin K9 in Schofield.

Dumais faces four felony counts of party to a crime of mistreatment of animals causing death; roughly 40 misdemeanor counts related to intentional mistreatment of animals; and one count of theft in a business setting of more than $100,000.
Charges stem from a raid at Central Wisconsin K9 in October 2025, where officers found multiple dogs living in unsanitary conditions and without access to proper food and water.
Zynda is next scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 9. She was previously given a $5,000 signature bond with several conditions, including not working with animals
Court records indicated Dumais posted bond on Monday, January 26th. He is due back in court on March 4th, where he will enter a plea for dozens of counts. An employee, Kalib Suchomski, is facing a similar list of charges. He has pled not guilty and is due back in court for a pretrial conference on April 27th.
