GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Packers star running back Josh Jacobs was arrested over the holiday weekend and faces several domestic-related charges, according to the Hobert/Lawrence police department.
According to a press release from the department, Jacobs was booked into the Brown County Jail on Saturday night, charges that include battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, felony strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. Jacobs may face up to 16 years in prison if convicted on the alleged counts.
The department also stated that the investigation into the case remains ongoing, and no other information will be released at this time.
Jacobs has more than 2,100 running yards and 29 touchdowns in just 29 games with the Packers, breaking into the team’s all-time top 20 rushing yardage leaders. He is under contract with Green Bay through the end of the 2027 season.
He is currently being held without bond and will reportedly make an initial appearance in Brown County court at 2:00 PM. The Packers have canceled today’s scheduled media availability for players. Coach Matt LaFleur will speak following practice.
If Jacobs misses any regular-season games, the Packers will most likely need to add more depth to their running back room, as Chris Brooks and MarShawn Lloyd would be the top backs on the depth chart with Jacobs out, and young players such as Damian Martinez, Jaden Nixon, and Pierre Strong Jr. could end up seeing playing time.
